Chennai, Feb 18 (ANI): Mother of convict Arivu Perarivalan alias Arivu expressed her happiness at the Supreme Court's decision on Tuesday to commute her son's death sentence in former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case. LS adjourned till 3 PM over Telangana issue

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Amidst uproar and continues dim in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde requested the Speaker to take up the Telangana bill, the house got adjourned till 3:00 PM. Earlier, the house was adjourned till 12:45 PM, and after getting resumed got adjourned again over the protest. Union Minister Pallam Raju has said that the government must not get the Telangana Bill passed in the din. He has also said that the demands of Seemandhra leaders must be met. New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Global anti-corruption organization Transparency International has denied the Aam Aadmi Party's claims that corruption had come down during its tenure in Delhi, and stated that it has not carried out any studies to assess the levels of corruption for the period as yet. Speaking on the same, AAP Leader Gopal Rai on Tuesday said that people are trying to create controversies and added that Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal never said that they have given a report. Jammu/ New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): After SC’s verdict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, J&K’s National Conference (NC) Chief Farooq Abdullah and party leader Mustafa Kamal said that Afzal Guru’s case was no different in this sense and that the state is always considered second citizen by the government. Abdullah said that Guru’s case was totally unjustified. Following the suit, Kamal said that there has been a miscarriage in the case of Afzal guru and that such a verdict as in Rajiv Gandhi’s case could have been considered in the former’s case too. Politicos on SC's verdict on Rajiv Gandhi's killers

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday commuted the death sentence of three men convicted of killing former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to life in prison. The convicts, Santhan, Murugan and Perarivalan, had petitioned against their death sentence, arguing that there had been an exceptional delay in a decision on their mercy plea. A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam delivered the judgement on the mercy plea. The Centre had earlier opposed the plea by arguing that the convicts did not go through torture, agony and dehumanizing experience during pendency of the mercy pleas.
