Bangladesh social activist calls for trial of 1971 war criminals accused of genocide

Dhaka, March 25 (ANI): Bangladesh social activist, Khushi Kabir called for trial of the collaborators including Pakistani soldiers accused of genocide in 1971 and pressed his demand for closure of the culture of impunity. Unrest erupted in January 2013 when the tribunal sentenced to death in absentia a leader of Jamaat. Thousands took to the streets in February demanding the execution of another Jamaat leader after he was jailed for life on similar charges. The relatives express shock as well as anger at the news saying that in this world of technology, it is hard to believe that a Boeing plane can go missing. Meanwhile, retired Rear Admiral K Raja Menon expressed doubt over the statement of plane crash as there has been no valid proof for it. The launch of an official air crash investigation would give Malaysia power to coordinate and sift evidence, but it may still face critics, especially China, which had more than 150 citizens on board the missing plane and has criticised Malaysia over the progress of the search. Jharkhand: Landmine blast injures three policemen

Khunti, March 25 (ANI): At least three policemen were seriously injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxals in Jhankhand's Khunti district on Tuesday. The blast took place near the Murhu police station in the Kotna village where the officers were engaged in anti-Maoist operations. Superintendent of police, Anees Gupta, threw more light on the incident. For better treatment, they have now been sent to Apollo hospital in Ranchi. Two Sikhs abducted in Pakistan returns home unharmed

Peshawar, March 25 (ANI): Two members of Pakistan’s Sikh community, who were kidnapped in northwest Pakistan last month, reached their home in Peshawar after being released by their abductors. The captives, Sawinder Singh and Anand Singh, were kidnapped by unknown assailants on February 11 from Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan’s restive northwest belt adjoining the lawless tribal region. Sawinder Singh said that he and his cousin had gone to DI Khan in connection with their herbal medicine business when they were kidnapped at gunpoint by masked gunmen riding motorbikes. Singh said the kidnappers were 10 in number who told them that there were some complaints against them and they would only be released if their ‘Amir’ (chief) was satisfied with their statements. Police arrests Maoist in Jharkhand

Simdega, March 25 (ANI): Acting on a tip-off, police arrested a Maoist, identified as Sanju Pradhan in Simdega district of Jharkhand. Police recovered four mobile phones from him. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aseem Vikrant said that the arrested Maoist was on task of recce for observing troop movement in the region. The hotbeds of Maoists in the state are under tight security blanket, as India, will hold its general election in nine stages staggered between April 7 and May 12.
