Azam Khan's remark over EC invites mixed reactions

New Delhi, May 2 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan's remark that Election Commission should not behave like God gave way to mixed reactions by various leaders on Friday. Congress leader Meem Afzal said that Azam Khan is free to say anything within the limits of law not beyond that. Former SP leader Shahid Siddiqui agreed that EC should not behave like God but also highlighted that everyone including Azam Khan should respect the EC. New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said that if the Congress party is pushed into opposition after a general election, it would give its backing to a major tax reform it tried to bring during 10 years in office. Ramesh criticised BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for blocking the general services tax (GST), which is aimed at easing doing business, raising revenues and boosting growth. SC reconstitutes SIT to probe into black money case

New Delhi, May 02 (ANI): Supreme Court directed the central government to appoint former Justice MB Shah as chairman of Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted to investigate cases of black money stashed in foreign banks. The court also asked the union government to furnish the list of unaccounted money holders. Suspected Bodo militants kill at least 10 people in Assam

Assam, May 02 (ANI): Suspected Bodo militants killed at least10 people in two separate incidents in Kokrajhar and Baksa districts of Assam. In the first incident suspected Bodo militants entered a house and fired indiscriminately, killing three members of a family including two women and injuring an infant in the Baksa district on Thursday night. The severely injured infant was rushed to the nearby hospital as he suffered injuries from the bullet. In the Kokrajhar district, at least 7 people were gunned down by the suspected terrorists after they opened indiscriminate fire on the civilians. May 2, 2014

Security beefed up at sensitive installations after Chennai train blasts

Coimbatore, May 02 (ANI): Police beefed up security at railway stations across India after two bomb blasts in Bangalore- Guwahti train in Chennai which killed one woman and left nine others injured. Paramilitary forces and dog squads were deployed at several stations, with the police scanning through belongings of almost all the passengers in Coimbatore city in Tamil Nadu. Police in the northern part of the country also issued an alert and railway stations were scrutinised. A team from the National Investigation Agency has joined the investigation in Chennai.
