Sopore, Nov 04 (ANI): Suspected militants hurled grenades at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp at Sopore in Baramulla Distric of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Witnesses said people ran for cover after the explosive was hurled. However, one rifle grenade did not explode and the other missed the target. The rifle was later on defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad. Soon after the incident took place, forces, including police counter insurgency Special Operation Group and units of army, cordoned off the area and conducted searches to nab the culprits. Imphal, Nov 4 (ANI): In what seems to be a unique clean up exercise, state police of Manipur set fire to a bounty worth of large amount of drugs seized from various parts of capital Imphal. Police trucks arrived at an open field in the Lilong Pan Ahanbi area in the state capital and unloaded huge packages containing narcotics that had been seized from various police stations in Imphal between 2012 and 2013. The police officer who headed the disposal, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Range-IV, Imphal, Kh. Chandramani Singh said that the illegal narcotics were worth more than 4.5 crore. New Delhi, Nov 4 (ANI): Security was tightened in Trilokpuri area on the occasion of Muharram on Tuesday. Along with the local police, Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were also seen on patrol in the area. The police have imposed restrictions on the display of weapons- swords, lathis and knives - during the festival and will be keeping a close watch on the procession. The measures have been taken in the wake of last week's communal clashes in the area which had left five injured including two teenagers. Over 1,000 policemen and paramilitary personnel have been posted at Trilokpuri area after the clashes took place. More than 6,000 police personnel and several drones with live satellite feed would patrol and guard the city so that mourners can observe the Muharram peacefully. The processions would be taken out amid water-tight security, as Shi'ite Muslim mourners indulge in self flagellation, to commemorate the death of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad. Recently, the victims were frustrated on the news of death of Warren Anderson, chief of Union Carbide, who did not face any trial for his crimes.
