Wont support AAP in Delhi this time: Congress

New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): The Congress has claimed it will prefer fresh election in Delhi than supporting the Aam Aadmi Party again to form a government. After its spectacular performance in the assembly polls, the AAP drew a blank in the Lok Sabha polls though its candidate came second in all the seven constituencies relegating all the sitting Congress MPs including Kapil Sibal, Ajay Maken and Krishna Tirath to the third position. New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has said that India and Pakistan cricket matches should be called off in order to teach a lesson to the nuclear-armed neighbour. Thackeray also added that Pakistan was fuelling militancy and killing innocent people. New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): BJP leader Harshvardhan on Wednesday said that the AAP would be thoroughly rejected by people if they decide to hold a referendum and ask people whether they should make a bid for forming the government with support of Congress or go in for election. Fire engulfs wholesale vegetable market in Patiala

Patiala, May 21 (ANI): A raging fire charred shops and inflicted huge losses upon traders as it engulfed a wholesale vegetable market in Punjab on Wednesday. The fire broke out at 4.30 am (2300 GMT) in Patiala. A vegetable vendor, Raju, said that all the vegetables and cash kept in shops were completely burned in the fire. May 21, 2014

DMK attacks Jayalalitha over sacking four district secretaries

Chennai, May 21 (ANI): DMK leader TKS Elangovan said the state chief and supremo of regional AIADMK J Jayalalitha is making mockery of democracy after the latter sacked four district secretaries in charge of three constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Spokesperson of DMK, Elangovan said on Tuesday (May 20) that such actions display total failure of governance in the province. The district secretaries shunted out were of Dharmapuri, Kanyakumari and Thiruvallur where the party couldn’t win. Police arrest Maoist in Jharkhand, recover arms and ammunition

Gumla, May 21 (ANI): Police has arrested a Maoist in India’s red corridor of Gulma district of Jharkhand and recovered arms, ammunition and a number of mobile phones. Accused in several criminal activities, the red rebel was the commander of a faction in the area and a wanted criminal in police records. The police launched combing operation in the area and were successful in nabbing the Maoist on Tuesday. Maoists, also known as Naxals, have killed police and politicians, and targeted government buildings and railway tracks in an insurgency that has killed thousands since the 1960s. May 21, 2014

RBI governor says fiscal discipline key for economic growth

New Delhi, May 21 (ANI): RBI governor Raghuram Rajan has reiterated his call for fiscal discipline. Rajan stated that it is essential for the country to achieve sustainable economic growth. Although the comments were part of a broader speech on public sector banks, they come as India's newly elected government led by Narendra Modi is set to face its first credibility test with markets when it delivers a budget by July. Rajan repeated his call while noting that India would not always be able to rely on banks to buy a large portion of its government debt as it usually does.
