Delhi gang rape victims parents condemn Mulayam for defending rapists

New Delhi, April 11 (ANI): The parents of Delhi gang rape victim condemned Samajwadi Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's comment that three rape convicts sentenced to death in Mumbai "made a mistake" and did not deserve to be hanged. The victim’s mother said that rape is not a mistake by any chance and that it is just a crime. Further, her father said that Yadav is from SP and is also a prime ministerial candidate from the party and such remarks from political leaders would encourage the criminals and demotivate women of the society. Deported Pakistani labourers arrive in Oman

Karachi, April 11 (ANI): Smuggled to Oman by human traffickers and ending up in deportation, a batch of nearly 400 worn-out Pakistani job seekers, arrived in Karachi by a cargo vessel. The job seekers, most of them illiterate labourers and hailing from upcountry, had been smuggled to the Gulf state through Taftan crossing at the Pakistan-Iran border illegally. Then they were taken to a jetty from where they were abandoned on the coast of Oman. A deported labourer hailing from Karachi, Fazal Subhan, said he was deported following one month in prison after being held during a crackdown against illegal residents in Oman. Apr 11, 2014

Mumbai shoe godown catches fire, no casualties reported

Mumbai, April 11 (ANI): A shoe warehouse in Mumbai caught fire on Friday while the firefighters struggled to douse the raging inferno. The fire fighters at the site reported that the incident took place at around 2.00 am (IST) and it took around eight Fire tenders to douse the blaze. The ranging inferno also resulted in huge loss of property but no causalities were reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Apr 11, 2014

LS polls: Voting commences in Mizoram for single seat

Mizoram, April 11 (ANI): Voting for a single Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram constituency began on Friday, for which additional eight companies of central para-military forces have been deployed. The Mizoram Lok Sabha seat is witnessing a three-cornered contest between the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and the United Democratic Front which is an alliance of eight opposition parties. An electorate of 7,02,189, of whom 3,55,954 are women are eligible to cast votes in 1,126 polling stations.
