New Delhi, Sep 03 (ANI): Political leaders on Wednesday reacted to reports of CBI Director Ranjit Sinha being associated with people accused in various scams including 2G, Coalgate and Meat export. NCP leader Majid Memon said that law will take its course in deciding the charges against Sinha. SP leader Gaurav Bhatia said that Sinha had been related to various accused earlier too. JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav said that his party also received information regarding Sinha’s contacts with crime accused people. CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said that the case is now in Supreme Court and it will decide what course to take.Sep 3, 2014
Mumbai, Sep 3 (ANI): Bollywood celebrities took part in processions and chanted hyms as they immersed idol of Hindu god Ganesha on Tuesday, the fifth day of 10-day popular Hindu festival, symbolising a ritual see-off of his journey towards his abode. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi celebrated the immersion of the deity of prosperity, Ganesha, with religious pageantry along with his family. During the immersion ceremonies the Ganesha idols are taken through the streets in a procession accompanied by dancing and singing, and are immersed in a river or the sea in accordance with Hindu faith symbolizing a ritual see-off of his journey towards his abode in "Kailash", while taking away with him the misfortunes of all mankind.Sep 3, 2014
New Delhi, Sept 03 (ANI): Women activists on Wednesday condemned the killing of a teenage girl in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. A day after she openly challenged the verdict of a village kangaroo court chaired by a local Trinamool Congress leader, the naked body of a teenage girl was found near the railway tracks in Jalpaiguri. Her father has accused local TMC leaders and supporters of raping and murdering her. The girl, went missing immediately after the meeting ended late on Monday night. She had accompanied her father to a 'salishi' or meeting called by Namita Roy, the TMC councillor of the municipality. Two persons have been detained in this connection and the body has been sent for postmortem.Sep 3, 2014
New Delhi, Sept 03 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction with the Narendra Modi government affidavit on its effort to clean river Ganga. The court asked the government to come with a time bound plan and realistically achievable plan. The court has said that the government affidavit was too comprehensive and bureaucratic. The court has asked the government to come with a stage wise plan to clean the holy river. The Apex court even offered to help the government. The Court also said that the Centre's action plan may not help clean the river Ganga "even after 200 years".Sep 3, 2014
Kanpur, Sep 3 (ANI): Ten people died and two critically injured when a speeding truck overturned near a construction site in the wee hours of Wednesday in Kanpur. The victims who were construction workers were sleeping on the road in a slum area in Kanpur city when the truck lost balance as the wheels got stuck in a manhole and overturned upon them. Superintendent of Kanpur Police, Prabhakran, investigating into the accident confirmed that the mishap claimed ten lives and assured further probe into the incident. The bodies were recovered from under the sand. According to media reports, the truck driver fled after the accident.Sep 3, 2014
