Two Indian-origin boys tie for Scripps National Spelling Bee championship trophy

United States, May 30 (ANI): Two Indian-origin boys have been crowned the co-winners of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. For the first time in 52 years, two spellers have been declared co-champions. Sriram Hathwar, 14, of Painted Post, New York, and Ansun Sujoe , 13, of Fort Worth, Texas, shared the title after they spelled a dozen words correctly in a row. They were declared co-champions by judges after six rounds of face-to-face duelling. May 30, 2014

2G scam: Court slaps a fine of rupees one lakh on Balwa

New Delhi, May 30 (ANI): On the plea filed by Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, seeking permission to withdraw answers given by him earlier to court in the 2G spectrum case trial, lawyer Vijay Agarwal appearing on behalf of Balwa said, "Whatever the questions the court did not approve off will be deemed to be deleted and for the balance cost will be recorded. Akhilesh Yadav, Centre enters into blame game over power crisis in UP

New Delhi/ Kanpur, May 30 (ANI): As the people in UP are reeling under 10- hour power-cuts, the blame game is on between UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and union government. Yadav said that centre is not providing adequate power. He said that due to less supply of coal from Coal India, power crisis is growing in the state. Meanwhile, hitting back at Yadav, Minister of state for power Piyush Goyal said that the state government must buy power from the Centre and that there is no shortage of power. Mayawati hits out at Akhilesh over Badaun gangrape, demands President's rule

Mayawati said that law and order in the state has completely brokendown and demanded that the state be put under President's rule. BSP Chief demanded a CBI probe into the gangrape and murder of two Dalit teenagers in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, saying there was absolutely no control over crime in the state. Shutdown call by TDS hits normal life in Telangana

Andhra Pradesh, May 29 (ANI): Chief minister-elect of India's new state, Telangana, which will come into existence on June 02, K Chandrasekhar Rao, called for a shutdown on Thursday (May 29) to protest the move of the central government to issue an ordinance related to the merger of a few villages of Khammam district into Andhra Pradesh. The city wore a deserted look as shops and business establishments remained closed at many places, including Hyderabad. Bus services from Hyderabad to various destinations in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were also suspended. Activists of the regional TRS came out in droves in Bhadrachalam town and protested against the ordinance and termed it unconstitutional. May 30, 2014
