Autumn season draws tourists to Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 16 (ANI): Tourists flocked Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday to enjoy autumn season in the valley as fallen crimson Chinar leaves covered streets. Dotted with Chinar trees mainly, Kashmir adores a unique look during this season as the leaves turn red before they fall. Director of Floriculture department Sunil Mishra said tourists flock Kashmir during this season as they love to experience sound of fallen leaves as one walks on it. The tourism industry has again picked up after the worst flooding, which hit the state in September, as tourists from across the world have started visiting the valley. India celebrates National Press Day, IandB Ministry says nation believes in freedom of press

New Delhi, Nov 16 (ANI): Addressing a gathering to celebrate National Press Day in New Delhi on Sunday, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Rathore said that the government believes in freedom of press for the fourth pillar of democracy. A book related to the media was also released at the event by the dignitaries. This year, the National Press Day celebration has been dedicated to the 'Role of Media in Facilitating Transparency in Public Affairs.' Various seminars, symposia, workshops, debates and discussions on topics related to the Press were organised to mark the day. Addressing the gathering, the Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that media should act with responsibility and not turn into paparazzi. Various journalists, photographers and freelancers excelling in print media were also honoured by the Council which is the only authority enjoying the statutory mandate to encourage the media to pursue its duties. President attends religious ceremony in Mathura

Mathura, Nov 16 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee, on Sunday attended a religious ceremony at an under-construction temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in holy town of Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. The 'Chandrodaya' temple, which will showcase early life of Lord Krishna, will be an architectural marvel. The foundation stone for the temple was laid on March 16 this year. President Mukherjee said India is one of the oldest and culturally rich civilizations in the world. Reportedly, the temple project is expected to get over in next five years and funds have been collected from various corporate houses and devotees of Lord Krishna. Meanwhile, Mukherjee also added that there could be no better way of doing this than spreading the Bhagvad Gita's message of universal love and humanity.
