People's safety more important than providing water from Mullaperiyar dam: Oommen Chandy

Chennai, June 08 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, while discussing the Mullaperiyar Dam issue on Sunday said that he is not averse to giving water to Tamil Nadu but that his only concern is safety of people of Kerala. The Mullaperiyar Dam site is in Kerala, but the reservoir mainly serves Tamil Nadu. Kerala wanted the structure to be demolished, while Tamil Nadu had fiercely opposed the move. Kerala advocated for the construction of a new dam to banish prevailing fears of an impending disaster in the event of the dam's collapse. Jun 8, 2014

Bhati said that he had no connections with the BJP leader and he had never spoken or met him even. Mumbai Metro runs into technical glitch on first day

Mumbai, June 8 (ANI): The first day of Mumbai Metro did not turn out to be too smooth both for the Maharashtra Government and the citizens of the maximum city as the services ran into a technical problem. The metro train flagged off by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan early this morning was stalled for about 30 minutes at the Jagriti Nagar station due to a technical problem. Some of the trains are now packed with passengers as it is stranded at the stations en route. The trains also halted for five to ten minutes at Saki Naka station before heading for Versova, where it reached 20-30 minutes late, thereby affecting the frequency of trains on the reverse route. The Metro service was inaugurated by Chavan from the Versova station and was accompanied by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) Chairman Anil Ambani. Jun 8, 2014
