IPL scam: Mukul Mudgal committee submits final report to SC with less expectation

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): The Mukul Mudgal committee probing the betting and spot fixing scandals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) submitted its final report on Monday. The committee submitted its report on role of N Srinivasan and others in the scam, in a sealed cover. The hearing on the case is scheduled for next Monday. Justice (Retd) Mukul Mudgal said that the report has been submitted but refrained from giving any details whatsoever. The report, however, had less expectation as lawyer Rahul Mehra said that going by the past record, nothing much can be expected from the same. India beefs up security post blast at Pakistan side of Wagah border

New Delhi, Nov 03 (ANI): India beefed up security after a blast took place on the Pakistan side of the Wagah border which killed at least 55 people including women and children and as many as 70 sustained injuries. Hundreds of people visit Wagah border crossing near the Pakistani city of Lahore to witness the flags of both countries being lowered just before sunset. Bakshi also said the explosion could have happened on this side of the border as well, and that with the winters approaching the ceasefire violation may increase along the border. Media reports earlier said the explosion was caused by a gas cylinder but later police said it was probably a suicide bomber. Police probe is underway. Nov 3, 2014

BSF guns down smugglers, recovers 22 kilograms of heroin in Punjab

Amritsar, Nov 03 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) troopers gunned down smugglers and recovered 22 kilograms of heroin worth 1.1 billion rupees along the Indo-Pak border in Punjab. Giving details of the incident, BSF Inspector General Ashok Kumar said that one smuggler was shot dead while two of his accomplices were injured and 22 kg of heroin was seized from them at Dera Baba Nanak sector in Gurdaspur district. He added that the operation was launched on the basis of intelligence inputs, following which the patrolling party of 38 Battalion in Gurdaspur observed some suspicious movement in the area of Bohar Wadala border outpost. The patrolling party opened fire in retaliation as the smugglers, who were trying to cross over to the Pakistan side, challenged them. Three smugglers Tasveer Singh, Balwinder Singh and Fateh Singh , all residents of Kalanaur town in Haryana, received injuries. Nov 3, 2014

At least 55 killed and several injured in suicide blast on Pakistan side of Wagah border

Lahore, Nov 03 (ANI): At least 55 people were killed and more than 150 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up near the Indo- Pak border. The attack occurred shortly after a daily ceremony when troops from both sides simultaneously lower the two nations' flags. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was a response to the Pakistani army's actions against their positions in tribal areas straddling Pakistan's border with Afghanistan. State police Chief Mushtaq Sukhera said that the explosion hit near the checkpoint at the Wagah border crossing as hundreds of people were returning from the military ceremony on the outskirts of Lahore. The daily flag-hoisting ceremonies by the Pakistani and the Indian military on their respective sides of the border draw crowds of hundreds. Bus Accident kills at least 14 in Himachal Pradesh

Chamba, Nov 02 (ANI): At least 14 people were killed and 11 others injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The private bus carrying 25 people was on its way to Himri in Saluni region when the driver lost control over the wheel and it fell into 100 feet deep gorge. While 12 people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
