Speaker Sumitra Mahajan remains evasive on allegations of being partial

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan, on Tuesday remained evasive on Congress party_s allegations of being biased in connection with leader of opposition (LoP) post. As per Indian laws, the main opposition party in the house must have at least ten percent seats for the Leader of Opposition post. Congress has only 44 lawmakers in a 543-member house. In an effort to strengthen its claim, the Congress party, has sent a letter to Mahajan claiming that it has more than 60 lawmakers in the house with its pre-poll allies. BJP legislators demand probe report in Kosi river floods to be made public

Patna, July 22 (ANI): BJP leaders on Tuesday protested outside the state assembly in Patna, and demanded that the state government make the 2008 Justice Walia report on Kosi river floods public. A one-man inquiry commission headed by Justice Rajesh Walia, a retired chief justice of the Patna High Court, was probing an embankment breach in the river and submitted its report earlier this year in March. The floods were caused by a swollen Kosi river, which had changed its course, ravaging and devastating several districts in the state. Police arrest three accused in Manipur youth killing

New Delhi, July 22 (ANI): Delhi police on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of three men accused of killing a Manipuri youth who was beaten to death by a group of unidentified men. 30-year-old Shaloni was beaten to death in the national capital on Sunday, an incident which again raised concerns over security of people from northeastern states. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. On Tuesday, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi assured stringent action in connection with the case.
