Addressing a news conference in Karachi, a senior Rangers official, Colonel Tahir Mehmood said Rangers personnel had discovered a 40-metre-long underground tunnel dug under a house near the central jail. He said around 10 metres of further tunnelling was required to enter the jail premises. The Karachi jail holds a large number of high-profile militant detainees and has repeatedly come under threat in recent years.
