In 41-year fight over 5-paise loss with DTC, ex-employee files writ petition

New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): In a fight between Delhi Transport Corporation and an ex-employee for 41 years over 5-paise loss, ex-employee Ranvir Singh filed a writ petition in a court. Singh who was a conductor, faced a flying squad of ticket-checkers in 1973 in a bus going towards Mayapuri. The overzealous checkers found that he had charged a woman passenger only 10 paise for a trip when the actual fare was 15 paise. Singh was later given the salary after the labour court ordered so, but was refrained from promotions and other dues and is also not getting pensions now that he has retired. The DTC had also gone against the labour court and failed to reinstate him. Jul 27, 2014

Dharamsala, July 27 (ANI): Exiled Tibetans in Dharamsala narrated the inside story of their homeland through performing arts in a bid to capture world focus. A group of Tibetan activists, musicians, singers, painters and poets came together with an idea to use performing arts as a medium to show Tibet’s struggle before the people across the globe. Tibetan artists said it was an effort made to gain attention and letting people know about the atrocities committed on Tibetans through various forms of contemporary art. Tibetan artists like Bhuchung Sonam, writer in-exile said that every art expression is important because it conveys the story in its own special way and attracts the world audience. Meanwhile, a tourist from Colombia, Sisa said it was a good idea to convey the message through various art forms and makes it easy for common people to understand what exactly was happening in Tibet. Tibetans in exile in India initiated in different waves. The first set of Tibetans fled in 1959 following the 14th Dalai Lama's self-exile in Dharamsala in India. Chinese graziers pitching tents in Ladakh nothing to be concerned about: Praful Bakshi

New Delhi, July 27 (ANI): Talking about the Chinese graziers who reportedly pitched tents in the Demchok area of Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir this week but withdrew after talks between troops on either side of the border, Wing Commander (Retd), Indian Air Force, Praful Bakshi said that this is nothing to be concerned about. The incident comes on the back of two reported incursion attempts by Chinese troops earlier this month in Demchok and Chumar areas of Ladakh. Bakshi said that the new government in India would not leave any stones unturned in this regard. He said that China will make a serious attempt in some time from now to see if the Indian army is ready. He also said that the Indian army should be ready at all times in such incidents. UN fears for Burmese refugees as Thailand plans to repatriate 100, 000 of them

Burma-Thailand Border, July 27 (ANI): Thailand began a census of Burmese refugees at the country's largest camp on July 21st. The government now run by the army says it will send home to Myanmar about 100, 000 of the refugees who've been living in camps along the border for more than two decades. But the United Nations High Commission for Refugees is concerned that those sent back to Myanmar will face serious dangers. Some of those now living in the refugee camps are also worried about the prospect of going back, while many fled to escape poverty, persecution and ethnic wars. Gaza civilians voice outrage as ceasefire ends with Hamas firing on Israel

Gaza Strip, July 27 (ANI): As a temporary ceasefire ended with Hamas firing more rockets, Gaza civilians voiced their outrage over the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, calling it a massacre and saying that nearly half of the victims were innocent children. A 12-hour humanitarian ceasefire had come into effect in the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning after Hamas and Israel accepted a UN proposal late Friday night. Gaza's heath ministry said that the death toll in the 19-day Israeli offensive in Gaza has reached 1,030 and that more than 6,000 others have been injured.
