Bangalore, July 7 (ANI): Former Infosys director TV Mohandas Pai, said new poverty report by C Rangarajan could be accepted if it was based on present currency value. A panel headed by former Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister, C Rangarajan, submitted a report stating that people spending below rupees 47 a day in cities would be considered poor, much above the rupees 33-per-day mark suggested earlier by the Suresh Tendulkar Committee. Panel Report suggests bare minimum standard of living: C Rangarajan

Chennai, July 07 (ANI): Talking about the panel report on poverty which raised the daily per capita expenditure to Rs 32 for the rural poor and to Rs 47 for the urban poor, PM Economic Advisory Council Chairman C Rangarajan said that it suggests bare minimum standard of living. He also said that this is 19% higher than poverty line fixed by Tendulkar report for rural areas, 40% for urban areas. The report also said that every three people out of 10 are poor in India.
