Govt in WB takes measures to tackle Japanese encephalitis

Siliguri/ Howrah, July 26 (ANI): The government of West Bengal took preventive measures as three more deaths occurred due to Japanese encephalitis in the state. Three deaths were reported from North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) in Siliguri district. The disease, which is spreading slowly across other regions, has claimed more than 50 lives in West Bengal. However, NBMCH said the situation was under control. Earlier Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) spread bleaching powders, conducted fogging at the piggeries and held awareness campaigns. Iranian ambassador to India says Muslims should help Palestinians

Agra / New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): Iranian ambassador to India, Ghulam Raza Ansari, called on Muslims across the world to help Palestinians to have their own land as death toll passed 800. Muslims in Agra protested against Israeli attacks on Gaza. Muslims held protests outside Fatehpur Sikri mosque demanding politicians to stand by their ideologies and send a clear message to Israel to stop offensive. IAF helicopter crashes in Uttar Pradesh, 7 dead

Sitapur, July 26 (ANI): A helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh killing all seven people on board, including two pilots. According to reports, the advanced landing chopper-307 was on its way to Allahabad from Bareilly when it crashed in a field in village Ahirwa in Sitapur district, around 70 Kms away from Lucknow. The pilot gave a _may-day_ (emergency) call and soon after, there was a loss of contact on radar and radio. There is no reported damage on ground. Reportedly, eleven helicopters belonging to the armed forces have crashed in the past three years. Jul 26, 2014

New Delhi/ Kargil, July 26 (ANI): Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and heads of all three wings of the Indian armed forces paid tribute to the martyrs at the India Gate, who laid down their life for the nation in the 1999 Kargil conflict with Pakistan. Jaitley along with Army Chief General Bikram Singh, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Chief of the Naval Staff RK Dhowan paid homage to the martyred soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at the India Gate in Delhi on Saturday. Each year since 1999, the _Kargil Vijay Diwas_ is celebrated on July 26 every year to mark the exit of Pakistan Army from Indian territory and Indian Army bunkers captured by them. Teacher arrested for brutally thrashing 13-year-old student in West Bengal

Howrah, July 26 (ANI): A teacher of St. Aloysius School in West Bengal was arrested for beating up a 13-year-old boy black and blue during class hours for borrowing pen. The student of eighth standard sustained severe injuries on shoulder and is suffering from high fever. Father of the teenager, Deepak Khater, said the teacher beat his son with steel scale. Meanwhile, school in-charge, Sister Hilda, said the school authorities were unaware of the incident but will suspend the teacher with immediate effect. Army defuses eight live bombs in Kashmir

R.S. Pura, July 26 (ANI): Eight live bombs were recovered in RS Pura area in Jammu and Kashmir. The explosives were old and recovered after villagers in the area found them and informed the bomb squad. Security personnel of Indian Army_s Bomb Disposal Squad, along with the police and paramilitary, Border Security Force (BSF), reached the spot to defuse the bombs. Kathmandu, July 26 (ANI): Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, who is in Nepal for a three-day visit said the neighbouring country was top priority for the government. Swaraj will co-chair third meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission, which is taking place after 23 years. The commission is expected to review the entire range of bilateral relations. During her visit, she will also meet her Nepalese counterpart Mahendra Bahadur Pandey. Swaraj hoped her visit would boost India-Nepal ties. The meeting will hold discussions in five different clusters -political, security and border issues; economic co-operation and infrastructure; trade and transit; power and water resources.
