New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): Indian Olympic Association (IOA) General Secretary Rajeev Mehta, who was arrested in Glasgow on charges of alleged drunken driving, on Wednesday said that there were no charges against him. He was on his way back home after returning from the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. On August 3, Scotland Police had arrested Mehta for driving in a drunken state while wrestling referee Virender Malik was booked for sexual assault but the charges were later dropped against them. 10 Indian nurses reach Kochi from strife-torn Libya

Kochi, Aug 6 (ANI): Another batch of 10 Indian nurses from Libya arrived on Wednesday by a special flight, a day after 44 nurses reached Kochi from the strife- torn country. Cattle smuggler from Bangladesh killed in gun battle in West Bengal

South Dinajpur, Aug 6 (ANI): A Bangladeshi national, allegedly a cattle smuggler, was killed by the BSF in South Dinajpur district of West Bengal. Raju Mandal, a resident of Jaipurhut district in Bangladesh, was killed on Tuesday at Mathurapure area of Indo-Bangladesh border in the district. The incident occurred when around 25-30 Bangladeshi smugglers, who entered India from a temporary fencing area, tried to cross over to India with more than 100 cattle. The BSF personnel tried stopping them, but were instead attacked. As a result, the BSF fired eight rounds of Pump Action Gun (PAG) which injured Mandal, who was declared dead at a hospital. After the incident, the BSF and three Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officers rushed to the spot and held a flag meeting, where the BGB accepted the deceased as a citizen of their country. Rescue operation continues to take out six-year-old boy from borewell in Karnataka

Bagalkot, Aug 6 (ANI): Deputy Commissioner of Bagalkot district in Karnataka, PA Meghannavar, said the rescue operations of a six-year-old boy from a bore well will take few more days. Speaking to media persons, Meghannavar said that they are yet to dig over 110 feet as the child is stuck at 160 feet. He added that he can_t find any movement of the child inside the well but assured it was because there was no food or energy for the child. Congress asks government to explain the hurry to introduce insurance bill

New Delhi, Aug 6 (ANI): Congress leader Anand Sharma has said the ruling BJP government must explain why they are in a hurry to introduce the insurance amendment bill. The government was to table the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill in the upper house of the Parliament on Monday (August 04) but it was removed from the business list after they failed to gain cooperation from the opposition in passing the bill. The proposal, which requires the approval of both houses of the Parliament, would bring foreign investment worth up to $2 billion into the sector within a year of its implementation. Addressing a news conference in New Delhi, Sharma, who is also the deputy leader of opposition in the upper house, said the BJP government needs to be more patient regarding the controversial bill.
