Girl found dead after she defied local TMC leaders in Jalpaiguri, women activists condemn

New Delhi, Sept 03 (ANI): Women activists on Wednesday condemned the killing of a teenage girl in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. A day after she openly challenged the verdict of a village kangaroo court chaired by a local Trinamool Congress leader, the naked body of a teenage girl was found near the railway tracks in Jalpaiguri. Her father has accused local TMC leaders and supporters of raping and murdering her. The girl, went missing immediately after the meeting ended late on Monday night. She had accompanied her father to a 'salishi' or meeting called by Namita Roy, the TMC councillor of the municipality. Ganga cleaning project: SC raps centre, asks it to file fresh affidavit

New Delhi, Sept 03 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction with the Narendra Modi government affidavit on its effort to clean river Ganga. The court asked the government to come with a time bound plan and realistically achievable plan. The court has said that the government affidavit was too comprehensive and bureaucratic. The court has asked the government to come with a stage wise plan to clean the holy river. The Apex court even offered to help the government. Truck accident in Kanpur kills 10, injures two

Kanpur, Sep 3 (ANI): Ten people died and two critically injured when a speeding truck overturned near a construction site in the wee hours of Wednesday in Kanpur. The victims who were construction workers were sleeping on the road in a slum area in Kanpur city when the truck lost balance as the wheels got stuck in a manhole and overturned upon them. Superintendent of Kanpur Police, Prabhakran, investigating into the accident confirmed that the mishap claimed ten lives and assured further probe into the incident.
