WB bypolls: BJP debuts by winning Basirhat Dakshin seat, TMC retains Chowringhee

Kolkata, Sept 16 (ANI): BJP candidate Shamik Bhattacharjee won the Basirhat Dakshin seat in West Bengal on Tuesday by a slender margin of 1,742 votes, while Trinamool Congress (TMC) Party nominee Nayana Bandhopadhyaya defeated her nearest BJP rival Ritesh Tiwari by 14,000 votes to retain the Chowringhee seat. The members of the Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) also celebrated at their office in Kolkata, after bypolls trends showed the party to be leading by a small margin.
