J&K Floods: Relief work has picked up, says Army

Udhampur: Addressing the media in Udhampur, Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen DS Hooda said that as the weather has improved from two days and rains have come to halt, the relief work has picked up in the flood-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that around 20,000 people have been rescued and their priority is to rescue the people stranded in their houses and provide them with the relief supplies. New Delhi, Sept 08 (ANI): Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday presented the report card of the first 100 days of her ministry. Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Swaraj said that the Modi government's foreign policy is marked by both strength and sensitivity. Swaraj said the Centre's tough stand with Pakistan over its hobnobbing with Kashmiri separatists and with the US over spying on the BJP were examples of a strong foreign policy. She said that the first three months of the new government were very difficult but nonetheless they worked hard. On the challenges of diplomacy Swaraj held the view that it teaches one how to better ties with neighbours. Red Cross provides relief to flood victims in Kashmir

Rajouri , Sep 08 (ANI): The Red Cross came as a beacon of hope to the flood ravished people of Kashmir as officials distributed relief material to the affected victims. The Red Cross distributed relief material for the homeless in the flooded areas of Kalakote, Nowshera and Sunderbani in Rajouri district. More than 175 people lost their lives in the unprecedented floods and thousands were left homeless as Jhelum and other rivers overflowed their banks in Kashmir. Army regiments like the 425 Field Hospitals have set up relief camps in the state and have collaborated with district hospitals and NGOs to provide medical aid to the affected.
