BSE closes points 116.32 up on September 22

New Delhi, Sept 22 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 116.32 points up to stand at 27,206.74. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 24.85 points up to stand at 8,146.30. GITANJALI and JAIPRAKASH ASSOCIATES LTD. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 5.96% and 5.65% along with TATAMOTORS and ONGC with an increase of 3.80% and 3.32% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include SUZLON and INFRATEL with a decrease of 9.80% and 5.70% along with BHUSHAN STEEL LTD. and NATIONALUM with a decrease of 4.97% and 4.41% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 176.10 points at 18,269.83 while the banking sector is up 52.99 points at 18,532.20 and the reality sector is down 14.24 points at 1,759.93. Incessant showers dampen Navratri spirit, worry idol makers in Tripura

Agartala, Sep 22 (ANI): With the festivities of the ‘Navratri’ or nine glorious nights of Hindu goddess, Durga round the corner, incessant rainfall dampened the spirit of idol makers who worry it might adversely affect their sales in Tripura. Artisans in state capital, Agartala, remain apprehensive as idol-making has been delayed due to the rains and efforts have to be geared up to complete the work on time. An artisan, Khokan Rudra Paul, said they have to employ more workers to complete the backlog that has occurred because of the rains. Usually, by this time, the artisans complete the mud work of the idols and shift the idols for colouring and last finishing, but this year because of the heavy rains, the idols are still wet and work has halted. The artisans use polythenes to cover the idols from the rain water. If the shower continues for a couple of days more, they would have to hire blow lanterns and gas flames to dry the idols. Rajnath Singh visits BSF headquarters, says forces strongly dealing with militant issue

Politicos react even as ITBP submits reports on Chinese Incursion

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Politicos on Monday reacted over the Chinese incursions taking place in the Line of Actual Control area in Ladakh. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy said that the matter is escalating and requires a great deal of sagacity to end it. Congress leader Rashid Alvi and JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav said that the foreign policy of the NDA government is defective. CPI leader D Raja said that unless the border disputes between China and India are not resolved, there will always be a question mark on the mutual co-operation between the two countries. Dalai Lama meets former PM Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, met former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence in New Delhi on Monday (September 22). The Dalai Lama held talks with Singh after being given a warm welcome by the former PM and his wife Gursharan Kaur. Last week, during the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to India, the spiritual leader had called for talks to resolve the border dispute as an unsettled border with China encompassing large parts of the Tibetan plateau is a problem for India. SC asks SPP to assist in Ranjit Sinha case with regard to CPIL's refusal to name whistleblower

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday asked Anand Grover, special public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum allocation case, to assist it after Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) refused naming the whistleblower who had furnished the guest book at the residence of CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha. Earlier, Prashant Bhushan had urged the SC to withdraw order disclosing whistleblower's name in the case. Sinha's lawyer said that there was no detailed hearing on Monday and that the court deferred the hearing for October 10th. Sep 22, 2014

SC issues notice to central government over farmers suicide issue

New Delhi, Sep 22 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday issue notice to central government over the issue of increase in number of farmers suicide in the country. The lawyer in the case said that a writ petition was filed by an organization in Punjab over the same and that this is creating an agregarian fall in India. The petition also said that there was no actions taken by the government over the same and that there was no compliance also.
