New Delhi, Oct 19 (ANI): Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath said that elaborate arrangements are made for polls and counting by the teams and every counting centres are under tight security. He said that the EC is happy with the increase in percentage of voters with time but this needs to further go up. Further, Sampath said that assembly polls in Jammu & Kashmir is under screening and that officers are taking stock of the situation in the state and all the views of the political parties are taken in the matter. Among all the heavyweight bulls, a giant 1400-kg bull that was crowned champion at the cattle show by a 10-member jury, not only stunned people by its size but also by fetching a mind-boggling 70 million rupees. The animal named 'Yuvraj' has been looked after by its owner Karamvir Singh, who purchased it soon after it was born, like his own child. Maoists kill unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 19 (ANI): Maoists killed an unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh, said a senior officer. Constable Shivkumar Sidar, who was unwell for the last few days, was going by bus for treatment in Sukma district when Maoists killed him. Additional Director General (ADG) Of Police, RK Vij ruled out any abduction. Security forces rushed to the spot to nab the assailants. The Maoists control large but poor areas of the region and often attack railway lines and mining operations to cripple economic activity, such as the transportation of coal to power and steel companies. Death toll in Nepal blizzard that engulfed Annapurna trail rises to at least 39

Himalayas, Oct 19 (ANI): An amateur video filmed by a British survivor of the deadly blizzard that engulfed Nepal's popular Annapurna trail in the Himalayas showed hikers amid heavy snow and blasting winds which made sighting close to impossible. The death toll in the blizzard has risen to 39, police and army sources said. Authorities rescued 60 more people on Saturday, when the army deployed troops on a ground search. More than 40 people were still missing after unseasonal weather in the peak trekking season unleashed avalanches on the 240-km (150-mile) route around Annapurna, the world's 10th-tallest peak, which takes enthusiasts three weeks to complete. The bodies of two hikers of Indian and Japanese nationality were recovered from the Himalayas on Saturday and taken to a post mortem ward in Kathmandu.
