NCP leader Majid Memon said that Subramanian Swamy is not the spokesperson of Muslim and hence his statement has no meaning. New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): Indian foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said on Thursday that the country is expecting a fruitful outcome from Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit. Putin arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday in an attempt to revive a historic friendship that has faded over the years, seeking to improve cooperation in energy, defence and nuclear power. He will have his first summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a time when Russia is at odds with the West over Ukraine, and its economy is stalling as oil prices tumble to their lowest point in five years. Akbaruddin said there is enormous potential in India-Russia nuclear energy cooperation.

New Delhi, Dec 11 (ANI): The Government has approved a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the kin of victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The decision was taken by the Union Cabinet at a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to reports, the amount is an additional compensation which will be given to the families of the riot victims apart from what they have so far received from the government and other agencies. Over 3,000 victims of the 1984 violence, triggered by the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, are likely to benefit from the government's announcement. Dhaka, Dec 11 (ANI): The minority Hindu community in Bangladesh staged a protest in Dhaka against violence and injustice inflicted on them during the general elections earlier this year on International Human Rights Day. Violence had gripped Bangladesh as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ruling Awami League had pressed ahead with vote on January 05. Violent clashes had erupted in Bangladesh in December 2013 and January this year as opposition supporters had protested against a January 5 general election, which they boycotted letting more than half of 300 parliament seats go uncontested, undermining the legitimacy of the election. Vice-president of a human rights organization, Global Human Rights Defence, Manik Chandra Sarker, said it was unfortunate that the Bangladesh parliament had not addressed the plight of Hindus in the country.
