Reactions pour in after KJ George blames media for projecting Bangalore as rape city

New Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore, Nov 6 (ANI): Reactions poured in on Thursday after Karnataka Home Minister KJ George blamed media for projecting the city as a ‘rape city’. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that it is the duty of the state government to maintain law and order in the state. Activist Abha Singh said that he is blaming the media to cover-up the issue. Activist Pramila Nesargi also criticized KJ George for blaming the media and said that it is the duty of the press to bring to the notice of public domain the incidents that are happening in the city. Vyapam Scam: Digvijay to request SC for CBI investigation under SIT

Bangalore, Nov 6 (ANI): After the High Court ordered the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to monitor the Vypam Scam probe, Congress Leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday said that he will request the Supreme Court to order Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry under the SIT. He however added that they are not very disappointed with the High Court's order. Jitan Ram Manjhis son-in-law clarifies resignation as PA after controversy arose

Patna, Nov 06 (ANI): The son-in-law of Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Devendra Manjhi gave his resignation as the PA of Chief Minister after it ignited controversy. Devendra Manjhi said that he had been working under the Chief Minister for many years and earlier nobody raised the issue, but now seeking other benefits from the controversy some opposition parties have made it controversial. He also said that the definition of a relative is not clear under law and it does state clearly as to which relatives can and which cannot become Chief Minister’s PA. He further said that he had given his resignation after having discussion with the Bihar Chief Minister. Goa CM declines any talks on cabinet berth with PM Modi

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's official 7, Race Course Residence (RCR) on Wednesday evening amid speculation that he may be given a Cabinet berth at the Centre. Parrikar, however, after the meeting denied having any talks on the cabinet berth with PM Modi. He said that he had discussion over issues concerning his state and as of now he remains the Chief Minister of Goa. Parriker earlier in the day met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah. Amid a star studded glitzy evening with former cricketers, family members and other dignitaries in the commercial capital Mumbai, he said the game lost its charm when Greg Chappell was the team coach. Tendulkar has penned in his book that just before the 2007 Cricket World Cup, Chappell had approached him to replace former cricketer Rahul Dravid as the team captain. Cabinet approves treaty on transfer of sentenced prisoners between India, Nigeria

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet gave its approval for signing a treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria and also plans to work closely with Australia as a committed partner in international efforts to combat illicit drugs. Russian Deputy PM meets PM Modi in New Delhi

Odisha CM meets Finance Minister for aid post cyclone Hudhud

New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in New Delhi regarding the funds for the damages caused by cyclone Hudhud. Cyclone Hudhud had slammed into the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha last month, killing 41 people and tearing down tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes. Patnaik urged the Central government to release the funds similar to the advance of rupees 10 billion, which has been released to Andhra Pradesh.
