HC upset after Haryana police fail to produce Rampal

Chandigarh, Nov 10 (ANI): The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday pulled up Haryana police after they failed to produce Rampal, citing resistance by his followers. Public prosecutor Anupam Gupta said that the Court has expressed severe displeasure towards state government for failing to produce Rampal in the court. He added that the Court has directed the Registrar General to issue fresh non-bailable warrant of arrest of Rampal. He further added that the Court has also directed the State Government to immediately execute the warrant of arrest and produce Rampal before the Court on 17th. Nov 10, 2014

Parents protest after Class 1 student allegedly molested in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov 10 (ANI): Parents staged a protest in Kolkata on Monday (November 10) after a girl of class 1 was allegedly sexually abused inside the school premises. Hundreds of parents gathered outside the school to seek immediate action against the school authorities. Parents alleged the girl was molested inside the school campus but the authorities have not spoken anything yet. A mother, Ishmita Roy, demanded that a complaint be filed on this issue immediately. Women participate in Wrestling Championship in J and K

Katra, Nov 10 (ANI): Women in Katra district of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the 10th Rustum e Hind Indian style wrestling competition to promote gender equality. The organiser of the competition, Shiv Kumar, said that women should participate equally as men, especially in wrestling. Kumar further said that wrestling competitions should be conducted at every level with camps and proper coaching facilities so that more women take up this game. Meanwhile, the women wrestlers were happy and wanted more such competitions in future. Jammu, Nov 10 (ANI): With growing chill in the air, the secretariat of Jammu and Kashmir moved to its winter capital, Jammu, on Monday (November10) with the ceremonial guard of honour for the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to mark the occasion. The bi-annual practice of shifting the 'Darbar' (Secretariat) between the two capital cities of the state dates back to the 19th century. The government operates from Srinagar during summers and from Jammu in winters. It is estimated that the whole exercise of relocating offices costs the government crores of rupees every year. Security beefed up before murder-accused Rampal produced in court

Chandigarh/ Hisar, Nov 10 (ANI): Police and state administration in Punjab beefed up security measures on Monday (November 10) hours before murder-accused Sant Rampal is produced in court for contempt. Rampal faces contempt for skipping judicial proceedings before a sessions court in Hisar last Wednesday (November 05), after which a non-bailable warrant was issued against him and his aide. He had been earlier shifted to Barwala town in the Hisar district but will now be produced in the joint state Punjab and Haryana High Court. The District Collector (DC) of the Chandigarh administration where Rampal is to be produced later on Monday (November 10), Mohammed Shayin, said that security measures had been beefed up judging how last time about 50, 000 of his supporters had collected in protest. Rampal has been charged with murder; attempt to commit murder and other charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in 2006 after his followers attacked villagers. Nov 10, 2014
