PM Modi launches Jeevan Praman-Digital Life certificate for pensioners

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the Jeevan Praman-Digital Life Certificate for pensioners in a move that could eventually benefit over a crore pensioners. Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was also present at the event. Prasad said that digital certification will do away with the requirement of a pensioner having to submit a physical Life Certificate in November each year, in order to ensure continuity of pension being credited into his account. Unidentified group vandalises office property in Kerala

Kochi, Nov 10 (ANI): A group of unidentified miscreants, suspected to be Maoists, attacked an office on Monday (November 10), damaging glass walls and vehicles parked inside the compound, in Kerala. The group had their faces covered and was carrying steel pipes when it barged into the corporate office of Nitta Gelatin India Limited (NGIL) in Kochi city. The office's security guard, Victor, who was also an eyewitness to the incident, said the men forcefully entered the premises. Meanwhile, Managing Director of NGIL, Sajiv K Menon, said the men created ruckus in the office. The police are conducting an inquiry into the incident. Nov 10, 2014

SC ends Bollywood ban on women make up artists

New Delhi, Nov 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday ended the ban which Bollywood film fraternity had imposed on women make-up artists. Lawyer Jyotika Kalra said that Supreme Court termed the ban to be illegal and discriminatory against women, thus terminating it. Additionally the Maharashtra police have been directed to protect women make up artists at work. Meanwhile the petitioner Charu Khurana expressed her happiness at the judgement for the case she had been fighting since a long time. While women work in most areas of Bollywood including as technicians and hairdressers, the industry does not allow them to work as make-up artists.
