PM Modi condoles death of Lok Sabha MP Kapil Krishna Thakur

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of Lok Sabha MP from Bongaon, Kapil Krishna Thakur. He has extended his condolences to the bereaved family of the TMC leader. According to reports, 73-year-old Thakur breathed his last in a city hospital in Kolkata on Monday. Thakur, who represented Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, had been suffering from a lung infection. Party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid her last respect to Thakur describing his demise as a great loss to the Matua sect of Hindus. His last rites will be performed on Wednesday. Sports ministry felicitates Asian games medalists

New Delhi, Oct 14 (ANI): Sports ministry felicitated medal winners of 17th Asian Games which were held in Incheon. India won a total of 57 medals at the 17th Asiad, which includes 11 gold, 10 silver and 36 bronze and stood eighth in the overall medals tally. Sports Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, congratulated all participants of the Asian Games and said it was a proud moment for the country. Meanwhile, woman boxer, MC Mary Kom, whose win provided India its first gold medal in the ring at Incheon, thanked the ministry for having faith in her. Captain of men's hockey team, Sardar Singh, urged the ministry to keep providing required assistance to sportspersons. AIADMK supporters perform special prayers for Jayalalithaa's release

Chennai, Oct 14 (ANI): All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) cadres on Tuesday performed a special prayer, "Anga Prathikshanam" in the Vadapalani Murugan temple premises, for the release of party chief and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. About 51 cadres of AIADMK woman's wing headed by South Chennai District Secretary, Saraswathi Rangaswamy, along with hundreds of other cadres were present for the prayer offered for the release of their chief Jayalalithaa.
