Polling begun in Maharashtra and Haryana for Assembly seats

Nagpur/ Rewadi/ Mumbai/ Faridabad, Oct 15 (ANI): Amid tight security arrangements, voters queued up to exercise their franchise as polling began on Wednesday for the high-stakes Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana. Voting has begun for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana. The elections are being seen as the first major test of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity after the Lok Sabha polls. A victory will not only reaffirm Modi's appeal with voters but also silence detractors of his new party leadership, which was blamed for a string of defeats in assembly by-elections that tempered the euphoria of his Lok Sabha triumph. Long queues were already witnessed at polling stations where a number of voters and also high dignitaries came to vote. Oct 15, 2014
