Candidates go on rampage after cancellation of army recruitment rally in Madhya Pradesh

Gwalior, Nov 12 (ANI): Candidates at an army recruitment camp in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday went on rampage, attacked police, vandalised railway station and shops and set vehicles ablaze, alleging irregularities in the selection process. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Santosh Singh, in Gwalior said that management was not able to handle the huge crowd of candidates, following which they cancelled the recruitment process.According to reports, at least six people sustained injury in a stampede following violence by candidates. Arun Jaitley stresses on need for meaningful employment at second edition of Services Conclave

New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday (November 12) stressed on the need for creation of jobs in the services and manufacturing sector in order to provide meaningful employment to the under-employed population. Jaitley was speaking at the second edition of Services Conclave in New Delhi. He also laid emphasis on services sector exports to compensate for the deficit in the merchandise exports. Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also present at the event. Citing India's global expertise in the field of Information Technology (IT), Jaitley said this success had to be replicated in some other sectors too. PSU bank employees go on nationwide strike over wage revision demand

Bhopal/ Kanpur/ Lucknow/ New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): Public sector banks across India called for a day long nationwide strike on Wednesday demanding the long pending increment in the employees' wages. The strike has been called under the banner of an umbrella organisation of banks, United Forum of Bank Union. According to the media reports, much against the 23 per cent wage hike demand by the bank employees, Indian Banks' Association offered an increment of 11 per cent, which led unions to call for a strike. The protesters in New Delhi assembled outside various banks and shouted slogans demanding a revision in their salaries. Expressing resentment, an employee of National Organisation of Bank Workers, Ashwini, said around nine bank unions, 800,000 bank employees and more than 50,000 branches are on strike. The employees have been awaiting their salary revision since November 2012 but are yet to hear an official announcement from the government. Meanwhile in Kanpur city, bank union leader Pradeep Vajpayee said the conditions in which bank employees work are deteriorating. Nov 12, 2014

Death of women at sterilisation camp in Chhattisgarh sparks protest

Raipur, Nov 12 (ANI): Hundreds of protesters took to streets in Raipur city of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday (November 12), demanding immediate action against Chief Minister Raman Singh and the state health minister for the death of women at a sterilisation camp. The protesters smashed vehicles and stopped them from plying on roads. They also entered the schools and destroyed property there. The angry protesters demanded that an FIR (First Information Report) be filed against Singh and the junior health minister, Amar Agarwal. Ten women died and 14 were in a serious condition after botched operations at a government mass sterilization "camp" in Bilaspur district.
