Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress remains confident even as BJP leads in early trends of by-polls

Mumbai/ New Delhi, Oct 18 (ANI): Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress remained confident of gaining seats in Maharashtra by-polls even as BJP leads in early trends. Shiv Sena Spokesperson Sanjay Raut said that although BJP is gaining more seats but Shiv Sena too is performing good. He said that a clearer picture will come out after 7-8 rounds. NCP leader Majid Memon also remained confident of gaining satisfactory number of seats. Memon said that it is all one man show for BJP and they don't have any leader except for Narendra Modi. Maoists kill unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Oct 19 (ANI): Maoists killed an unarmed policeman in Chhattisgarh, said a senior officer. Constable Shivkumar Sidar, who was unwell for the last few days, was going by bus for treatment in Sukma district when Maoists killed him. Additional Director General (ADG) Of Police, RK Vij ruled out any abduction. Security forces rushed to the spot to nab the assailants. The Maoists control large but poor areas of the region and often attack railway lines and mining operations to cripple economic activity, such as the transportation of coal to power and steel companies. Death toll in Nepal blizzard that engulfed Annapurna trail rises to at least 39

Himalayas, Oct 19 (ANI): An amateur video filmed by a British survivor of the deadly blizzard that engulfed Nepal's popular Annapurna trail in the Himalayas showed hikers amid heavy snow and blasting winds which made sighting close to impossible. The death toll in the blizzard has risen to 39, police and army sources said. Authorities rescued 60 more people on Saturday, when the army deployed troops on a ground search. More than 40 people were still missing after unseasonal weather in the peak trekking season unleashed avalanches on the 240-km (150-mile) route around Annapurna, the world's 10th-tallest peak, which takes enthusiasts three weeks to complete. The bodies of two hikers of Indian and Japanese nationality were recovered from the Himalayas on Saturday and taken to a post mortem ward in Kathmandu. Counting for Maharashtra and Haryana assembly polls begins

Maharshtra/ Haryana, Oct 19 (ANI): Amid anticipations and apprehensions, counting of votes for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly and 90-member Haryana assembly has begun in the two states on Sunday.
