Politicos react after Jaitley asks CAG not to sensationalize its report

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Thursday after Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) should refrain from sensationalizing its findings just to make it to the headlines. NCP leader Majid Memon, while reacting over Jaitley's statement said that he agrees with the statement and believes that CAG should pay attention to Jaitley's advice. German envoy assures help for holy Buddhist shrine in Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya, Oct 30 (ANI): German ambassador to India, Michael Steiner, visited Buddhist shrine of Mahabodhi Temple in Bihar and said his country will extend every possible help in preservation of the temple. The ambassador was accompanied by his wife Eliese Steiner while visiting the temple in holy town of Bodh Gaya. Michael said his visit to the temple was fulfilling as he loved the atmosphere there. He added the German government will encourage the formulation of the temple. Bodh Gaya is a religious site and a pilgrimage of Buddhists in Gaya district. Two Maoists held with ammunition in Jharkhand

Latehar/ Odisha, Oct 30 (ANI): Police arrested two Maoists with ammunition in Latehar district of Jharkhand. Latehar's Superintendent of Police, Michael Raj S, said they attained major success by arresting two notorious Maoists who were involved in several violent activities since 2011. Michael added the arrested Maoists were involved in activities including firing at police, planning a bomb blast on National Highway 75 and others. Meanwhile, a farmer-turned-Maoist activist who surrendered before the police in Odisha on Tuesday (October 28) was produced before the court. Nachika Linga, the chief of a Maoist-backed organisation, remained underground for over four years evading a non-bailable warrant against him. He was in the 'most wanted' list of Odisha police for his alleged involvement in attack on a local police station in 2009. Oct 30, 2014

CAG must not play up results, says finance minister

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) should refrain from sensationalising its findings just to make it to the headlines. Jaitley was speaking at the annual conference of CAG in New Delhi. Jaitley further said the auditors should be more careful and liberal when dealing with multiple observations. While referring to the two scams, Jaitley said it is important to be discreet because the country is suffering so much where contracts are being cancelled and power sectors are in misery. Kerala to celebrate 'Kiss Day' to protest moral policing

Kochi, Oct 30 (ANI): A group of youngsters will organise a non-violent protest 'Kiss of Love' in Kerala on November 02 to protest against the moral policing and express freedom of love. The campaign was initiated in the wake of an attack on a coffee shop by youth wing activists of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Last week, Congress party owned Jaihind TV had aired a show alleging immoral activities at a cafe called Downtown in Kozhikode city. Within hours, it was attacked by workers of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of BJP. However, the Kerala police have denied the permission to protesters to hold the event in the port of Kochi. Young protesters were then seen holding posters reading 'Stop Moral Policing' to publicise the drive even as the members of local moral policing team were present at the venue trying to scare the youngsters by shouting at them. Young leaders from northeast gather in Delhi to discuss prospects for development

New Delhi, Oct 30 (ANI): There is a huge scope for development in the Northeast and the maximum potential of the region can be explored only through collective effort. Recently, under the theme of "A strong Northeast is India's asset", the 4th edition of the Young Leaders Connect programme brought together several leaders and achievers from the Northeast at the India Habitat Center in capital New Delhi. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, footballer Baichung Bhutia, senior Delhi Police officers and several northeast activists, students, entrepreneurs and politicians were present at the event. An initiative of YouthNet, a non-profit organization based in Nagaland, the conclave was started with an aim to develop greater awareness and understanding of issues affecting the development of the region.
