Modi added that his efforts are to create a situation where the ministers and bureaucrats work for the development of people who have helped them move forward. Defence Expert hopes for better days for Indian Navy under Modi's govt after TRV ship sank off Vizag

New Delhi, Nov 7 (ANI): Defence Expert Praful Bakshi on Friday said that there is still hope under Narendra Modi government that good days will come for Indian Navy soon. The statement came after Navy's Torpedo Recovery Vessel (TRV) A-72 sank of the coast of Vishakhapatnam. He said that the accident may have taken place because of old parts and other unknown reasons. Indian Navy on full scale search operation after ship sank off Vizag coast: Captain DK Sharma

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): Indian Navy Spokesperson Captain DK Sharma on Friday said that the navy is on a full scale search operation after the Indian Navy's torpedo recovery vessel (TRV) sank off the coast of Visakhapatnam at around 8:00 pm last night. He said that one sailor lost his life and four others went missing in the incident. The vessel was on a routine mission to recover practice torpedoes fired by fleet ships when she experienced flooding in one of her compartments. He claimed that at the time of the accident, there were 28 personnel on board. Sharma said that the prima facie reason as of now is the flooding of the engine room. Nov 7, 2014

PM Modi lays foundation stone for a trade and crafts facilitation centre for weavers in Varanasi

Varanasi, Nov 7 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone for a trade and craft facilitation centre for weavers in his home constituency Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Modi, who is on a two-day visit to the temple town Varanasi, arrived on Friday morning, where he is likely to firm up plans for its development of the city. With an aim to develop and promote handloom products of Varanasi this Trade Facilitation Centre and Crafts Museum is being established. Reportedly, the centre will be developed at the cost of rupees 500 million. Modi on the occasion said that after agriculture, it is textiles which generates maximum employment in the country and it needs technology upgradation to compete with the world. He added that his government we has begun work in this direction. Talking about the famous Benarasi sarees, he said that the sarees do not need any branding or marketing. Nov 7, 2014

Navy torpedo recovery vessel sinks off Visakhapatnam harbour, rescue operation underway

Visakhapatnam, Nov 07 (ANI): Search and rescue operations are underway as a naval vessel sank outside the Visakhapatnam harbour. One navy personnel was killed and four went missing, while 23 personnel were rescued safely after the Torpedo Recovery Vessel (TRV) A-72 sank on Thursday. The vessel had 28 navy personnel on board. Naval ships and aircrafts including P8I, Dorniers, and Seaking 42 C with night vision capabilities have been deployed for the search and rescue operation. TRV is an auxiliary vessel which is used to recover practice torpedoes fired by fleet ships and submarines. Nov 7, 2014

PM Modi arrives at an excited Varanasi, to adopt a village under 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'

Varanasi, Nov 07 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reached his constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi for the first time after assuming the office in New Delhi. Preparations for his arrival were started days before as people seem exciting over the awaited visit. UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will be in the city to welcome the Prime Minister. Modi is expected to adopt a village under the 'Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana'. Jayapur village, 24 kilometres away from Varanasi, hopes to be picked and is prepping to receive the prime minister, who is scheduled to make a public address there. The villagers also held prayers ahead of Modi's visit and thanked him for choosing their village. Water tight security arrangements have been made. PM Modi will be in his constituency for a little over 24 hours. PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a Weavers Trade Facilitation Centre and a crafts museum aimed at uplifting the lot of weavers and craftsmen. Nov 7, 2014

India hits out at Pak for calling Kashmiri separatists as freedom fighters

New Delhi, Nov 07 (ANI): India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress hit out at Pakistan for calling Kashmiri separatists as freedom fighters. Commenting on Pakistan's remark, BJP leader Kirti Azad said it was a reflection of the frustration due to its internal problems.
