Uttarakhand CM urges Modi govt to release funds for Clean Ganges mission

Rishikesh, Nov 30 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has demanded quick release of funds from the central government with the aim to expedite the country's ambitious project of clean Ganges mission. Rawat inaugurated the two-day WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) Summit on Saturday, on the banks of River Ganga to lay emphasis on the cleanliness drive. Addressing the inaugural session, Rawat said that maintaining sanctity and purity of River Ganga was a top priority of the state government. Rawat sought aid from the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for cleaning of River Ganga, which is a part of the much touted ‘Clean India mission'. Nov 30, 2014

BSP pulls up UP Govt. over Farrukhabad SHO's death

New Delhi, Nov 30 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Sudhindra Bhadoria on Sunday lashed out at Akhilesh Yadav- led Samajwadi Party (SP) Government in Uttar Pradesh for supporting nefarious elements in the state. Condemning yesterday's incident when an on duty Station House Officer (SHO) was shot dead in Farrukhabad, Bhadoria said that whenever the Samajwadi Party (SP) is in power the police is supposed to cooperate with the goons. SHO Rajkumar Singh was shot dead while trying to apprehend a history-sheeter in Farrukhabad last night. According to reports, he was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Farrukhabad, where the doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Nov 30, 2014

Forty Indian prisoners released from Karachi jail return back home

Amritsar, Nov 30 (ANI): 40 prisoners released from Karachi jail in Pakistan returned to India. The prisoners including 35 fishermen and five civilians reached Punjab via Wagah Border. Pakistan had released the Indian prisoners on Friday as a "goodwill gesture". The prisoners said that they were happy and thanked the Indian government for securing their release. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan and India routinely detain fishermen from entering each other's waters for fishing. They mistakenly enter other's waters as there is no demarcation of maritime boundaries. Nov 30, 2014

Fifty people affected in separate gas leak incidents in Bhopal and Meerut

Bhopal/ Meerut, Nov 30 (ANI): Fifty people were affected in two different gas leak incidents in Bhopal and Meerut. Thirty five workers of a chemical plant in Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh were affected after chlorine gas leaked in the plant at Speciality Organics Private Limited factory. The exact reason for the gas leak is not known yet. Meanwhile, in another incident in Meerut of Uttar Pradesh, gas leak at a meat packing factory affected 15 women workers. The affected women were rushed to City Hospital. Out of the 15 affected, five are said to be in critical condition. The meat packing factory, called Al Alia, is owned by former BSP leader, Shahid Akhlaq. Nov 30, 2014
