Politicos condemn Assam attacks as death toll rises

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Political leaders condemned the attacks in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam even as the death toll rises to more than 80 on Friday. Congress leader Rashid Alvi called the incident unfortunate. RJD leader Manoj Jha said that questioned on increase in numbers of such incidents of intolerance. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal also condemned the incident and said that the centre should be more alert on such things. Political parties condemn conversion of Christians to Hinduism on Christmas

New Delhi, Dec 26 (ANI): Political parties on Friday condemned the conversions of at least 58 persons, most of them belonging to Christian families to Hinduism in Kerala. The programme took place under the initiative of Vishwa Hindu Parishad on the Christmas day. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that it is unfortunate if the VHP is doing this by bribing the people. He also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take cognizance of the same. RJD Spokesperson Manoj Jha said that the VHP is worling to break the very fabric of the Indian Constitution. Terror threat to Rajasthan ministers, Security to be tightened

Udaipur, Dec 26 (ANI): A letter of terror threat has been received by Rajasthan government in which threat against ministers of the state has been expressed. Tamil Nadu remembers 2004 Tsunami victims on 10th anniversary

Chennai, Dec 26 (ANI): To mark the tenth anniversary of 2004 Tsunami disaster, people in Tamil Nadu on Friday offered prayers for the victims. It was on this day in the year 2004 that the Tsunami devastated Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu claiming more than 6,600 lives. Fishermen in many coastal districts of the state will not be venturing out into the sea today to pay homage to the victims of tsunami. In Nagapattinam, people led by Fisheries Minister KA Jayapal will pay homage to those who lost their lives in the tsunami. In Kanniyakumari, people will pay homage by placing wreaths in tsunami memorial. Meanwhile, people arrived at a church to pay respect to the lost souls. The priest prayed for peace. People also congregated at a grave yard to offer flowers to the dead. Rehabilitation works by central and state governments along with several NGOs had helped to give counseling to the survivors.
