SC refuses to interfere with Bombay High Court order that stays Maratha reservation

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the order of the Bombay High Court which stayed the move to grant 16 per cent reservation to Marathas in public service and educational institutions in Maharashtra. Earlier, the Bombay HC had cancelled the previous Congress-NCP government's decision of giving 16 percent reservation for Marathas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had later advocated for Maratha reservation and approached the Supreme Court. The court said that it will take decision after listening to all the pending petitions. Politicos congratulate ISRO for successfully launching GSLV Mark-III

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Politicos from various parties on Thursday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientists for successfully launching the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) Mark-III from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. This is the first time that such an exercise has been conducted by the ISRO scientists. The GSLV Mark III weighs 630 tonnes and is powered by liquid and solid fuel engines while the cryogenic engine at the top is filled with liquid nitrogen. According to reports, this experimental mission cost Rs. 155 crores, and hasn't carried any other satellite. Dec 18, 2014

Hafiz Saeed blames India for Peshawar killing, India condemns

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Political leaders in India condemned Lashkar-e-Taiba chief and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Mohammad Saeed for blaming India for the carnage carried out by the Pakistani Taliban in an army-run school in Peshawar. A video has emerged that purportedly shows Saeed blaming India and saying that it was a conspiracy by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government against Pakistan. The video also showed Saeed threatening India with "revenge" for the Peshawar massacre. Politicians said that Pakistan should seize the opportunity in the wake of terror attack on Peshawar school and take bold steps to combat terrorism. It should also hand over Saeed to India. Mamata says will keep up attack on NDA govt in Parliament, politicos react

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that Trinamool Congress will continue to protest against the BJP-led NDA government in Parliament over what it claims is the political vendetta unleashed against the party in connection with the Saradha scam. Bannerjee reached Delhi on Wednesday. Mamata is visiting Delhi to meet President Pranab Mukherjee, who recently underwent coronary angioplasty. She hit out the BJP for targeting her government over the Saradha chit-fund scam and alleged that there are many other scams worth thousands of crores of rupees but no arrests have been made so far. Gwalior judge sexual harassment: SC quashes MP HC probe panel CJI to constitute new probe panel

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday directed the removal of a senior judge accused of sexually harassing a woman judge in Madhya Pradesh from administrative and supervisory work. SC further stated that the panel appointed by the MP's Chief Justice to investigate the allegation was not correct and not in conformity with in-house procedure and asked the Chief Justice of India HL Dattu to set up a new panel to examine the sexual harassment charge against the judge.
