Hari will be doing a sequel to his blockbuster PR Handout

Hari has made an interesting announcement at the audio and trailer launch of Vikram's "Iru Mugan." The "Singam" series creator has said that he will be teaming up with Chiyaan for the sequel of "Saamy."

The filmmaker has revealed that the upcoming movie will be produced by Shibu Thameens, who is also the producer of Vikram's "Iru Mugan." The film will have Harris Jayaraj's music and Priyan's cinematography. Other details about the cast and crew are yet to be revealed.

The news has been grandly welcomed by the Tamil cine goers, who have set a trend on Twitter using the hash tag "#Saamy2."

"Saamy" is one of the biggest hits in Vikram's career. In fact, the movie redefined Chiyaan's image as a mass hero and the flick had set the box office on fire. The success of the Tamil film paved way for its remake in other languages like Kannada, Telugu and Hindi.

It was a cop film, which had Trisha Krishnan in the female lead role. The movie was bankrolled by K Balachander under the banner of Kavithalaya Productions. It is not clear whether Trisha will be part of the "Saamy" sequel.

With this development, Hari has become a rare filmmaker in Kollywood to be helming two franchises ("Singam" and "Saamy"). Interestingly, both the franchises have cop subjects.

On the other hand, Vikram will soon team up with Thiru for his next film "Garuda." After the completion of this flick, the actor is expected to take up "Saamy 2."
