Director Pandiraj had earlier called Simbu 'Ranbir Kapoor on South India'. Now, Gautham Menon, who is returning after his "Yennai Arindhaal", has echoed his views.

In an interview with Bollywood Life, Gautham Menon says that the Tamil actor does know that he is the 'Ranbir Kapoor of South India'. They are currently working in the romantic-action movie "Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada".

"I want him to get into an action space now after VTV. It starts off as a love story and then gets into a violent / action space. Simbu's capable of absolutely anything. If you ask me, he's the Ranbir Kapoor of south India. But he doesn't know that, which is good in a way," the website quotes the director as saying.

Simbu and Gautham Menon were earlier part of blockbuster "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa". Their latest movie "Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada" was supposed to have been released by now. But the shooting was halted after the director got an offer to direct Ajith and soon "Yennai Arindhaal" happened.

Now, Gautham Menon has resumed his delayed movie with Simbu and the film is likely to be released later this year. After completing this film, he will be moving on to to Vikram's movie.

As per the director, his "Dhruva Natchathiram", which was dropped before Surya walked out of the movie in 2013, has been revived and Vikram is happy with the script.

Coming back to the Ranbir Kapoor tag, Pandiraj was the first to compare the Tamil actor with the Bollywood actor. After signing Silambarasan and Nayantara for his "Idhu Namma Aalu", he called the ex-couple as 'Ranbir and Deepika Padukone of Kollywood'.
