After facing delays, the shooting of Rahul Dholakia's "Raees" starring Shah Rukh Khan has finally begun.

Producer Farhan Akhtar took to his Twitter handle to share a picture of the film's shooting location along with the caption "On another note. shoot of the attached film has commenced. Exciting times lie ahead. All the best to crew & cast."

Recently, SRK had confirmed that he would begin shooting for "Raees" in another 10 days. The actor, who wrapped up "Fan" shoot, will film a few scenes for "Raees" before he starts off with Rohit Shetty's "Dilwale".

There were reports that the "Happy New Year" actor will shoot a major portion of the film in September as he apparently wants to first complete "Dilwale".

King Khan has allotted most of his dates to the project and has also been actively involved with the film's scripting.

Co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan's Excel Entertainment, "Raees" was initially supposed to go on floors from 1 November last year, but got delayed owing to SRK's packed schedule.

The story of "Raees" is set in the 1980s in Ahmedabad and director Rahul plans to film some portions of the film in old Ahmedabad and Saurashtra.

The "Happy New Year" star will play the role of a Gujarati bootlegger in the flick. Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, who is known for her television show "Humsafar", will be seen romancing the badshah in "Raees". The film also has Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who will be seen playing the role of a cop.
