Shah Rukh Khan is finally signing films opposite leading ladies of his times, and not just focusing on working with 20-somethings.

After taking up a romantic film with old friend Kajol, he is likely to share the frame with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Sources said they are likely to team up again, adding how they almost came together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Bajirao Mastani", which now has Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

"Bhansali had already sounded out Aishwarya for Mastani and was in advanced talks with Shah Rukh for Bajirao's part. But then the character required Shah Rukh to shave his head for six months. This Shah Rukh was not able to do due to his commitment to Rohit Shetty's Dilwale and Rahul Dholakia's Raees," the insider further told Subhash K Jha.

However, this isn't the first time rumours of the onscreen couple doing a film together have made headlines. Towards the end of last year, there was a strong buzz that Aishwarya and Shah Rukh had been roped in for Rohit Shetty's remake of "Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi" (1958). Later, however, the director rubbished the reports, saying there was no such film on the pipeline.

SRK and Aishwarya have done three films together: Devdas (2002), Josh (2000), and Mohabbatein (2000).

The charming superstar is currently wrapping up the shoot for "Dilwale", which is looking at a pre-Christmas release on 18 December. Aishwarya has wrapped up the England schedule of "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", which features Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in key roles.
