A sex racket in Guwahati was busted, and one person nabbed. Additionally, four girls were also rescued. Shockingly, the racket was operating from a rented house of a dissident Congress leader identified as Adil Shah.

State Police Crime Branch along with a team of Armed Border Force conducted the raid on a tip-off.  "Based on specific information, we raided the rented house of Adil Shah and rescued four girls and arrested a youth. We have taken them to the Jalukbari Police station. We are interrogating them and trying to find out every aspect of their activities," Eastern Chronicle quoted Deputy Commissioner of Police-Crime, Swapnanil Deka.

"A flesh trade racket was in operation from the house. During the raid, the owner of the house tried to resist the police from entering the premises. However, the police were able to rescue the girls and arrest a youth. Whether the Congress leader is involved in the racket is not yet known," the report also quoted a source from the Armed Border Force as saying,

In June, another online sex racket was busted in Guwahati and one person, who allegedly operated the entire online racket and worked as a receptionist at a hotel, was nabbed, according to The Northeast Today.

Reports suggest that Assam has witnessed a big rise in cases of flesh trade and human trafficking in the recent past.
