Four years ago, 3 February was a special day for actor Dulquer Salmaan, as he eagerly awaited the response of Kerala audience to his debut movie "Second Show", released that day. Dulquer, son of megastar Mammootty, was appreciated for his portrayal of the character Harilal Lalu in the debut directorial venture of Srinath Rajendran.
Upon completing four successful years of his acting career, Dulquer has thanked all his fans and well-wishers for changing his life in many ways. "It's been four amazing years since i stepped foot in to this wonderful industry of ours. There's been so much love from within the industry and more than that, from all the viewers. All I can say is many many thanks from the bottom of my heart. You all changed my life in more ways than you know. Second Show to Charlie, what a ride !!! See you at the movies, (sic)" wrote Dulquer on his Facebook page.
The young actor also enjoys a huge fan following on social media, with more than 38 lakh Facebook users, 3.4 lakh Twitter followers, 2.7 lakh followers on Instagram.

The movie "Second Show" was set in the backdrop of criminal gangs in Kerala, and Dulquer played the role of a driver and smuggler in the crime thriller. Even though the movie opened to mixed reviews, Dulquer was lauded for his performance and won the Filmfare Award and South Indian International Movie Award for Best Debut Actor.
It was Dulquer's second movie "Ustad Hotel" that made him a familiar face in the industry. The actor was well accepted by the audience for playing a modern youth, chef Faizi, in the Anwar Rasheed directorial scripted by Anjali Menon. The movie did good business and won many accolades, including the National Awards for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Dialogues (Anjali Menon) and Special Mention (Thilakan).
ABCD - American-Born Confused Desi
The Martin Prakkat directorial, set in the US and Kerala, is one of the notable movies of Dulquer, in which he was seen as Johns Isaac, the son of a billionaire. The movie narrated the story of John and Kora (Jacob Gregory), who lead a luxurious life in the US and learn the realities of life after being sent to Kerala, where they are forced to live on a monthly expense of Rs 5,000. It was also a box office success.
Dulquer's performance as Arjun aka Aju in Anjali Menon's "Bangalore Days" is one of his career-best till date. His turn as a biker and Parvathy's love interest won many hearts and he bagged the Thikkurissy Award for Best Actor for his performance in it. The film has become one of the highest grossing Malayalam films of all time.
Dulquer-Unni Mukundan-starrer "Vikramadithyan" narrated the tussle between Vikraman and Adithyan, who share a love-hate relationship all their life. They compete to become police officers and win Deepika's (Namitha Pramod) heart. The Lal Jose directorial was a perfect blend of romance, love, friendship and revenge. Both Dulquer and Unni were praised for their performances in the movie.
Director Ranjith's "Njaan", based on TP Rajeevan's novel "K T N Kottur Ezhuthum Jeevithavum", set in the backdrop of India's freedom struggle, explores various levels of human psychology. Dulquer was applauded for giving a mature performance and breaking his image of an urban youth, and the role bagged him the Thikkurissy Best Actor Award again.
The on-screen chemistry of Dulquer (as Balan K Nair) and Nithya Menen (as Sheela) was well accepted by the Kerala audience in debutant Jenuse Mohamed's romantic flick "100 Days of Love". In the movie, Dulquer played the role of a feature writer who aspires to be a cartoonist.
O Kadhal Kanmani
Dulquer won the hearts of many with Mani Ratnam's "O Kadhal Kanmani" (OK Kanmani) in 2015, with the movie opening to positive reviews. Dulquer and Nithya shared screen space again in the romantic flick that narrates the story of a young couple that opts for a live-in relationship.
Dulquer's last movie "Charlie" released in December, and is still running successfully, making box office records in India and abroad. The actor has been receiving tremendous response for his performance in the Martin Prakkat directorial as a carefree young man who influences the life of everyone he comes across.
