Samsung is allegedly working on a mysterious Android flip phone aka folder phone with some high-end features that are reminiscent of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The unnamed phone bears the model number SM-W2017 with a wireless-charging certification from the New Jersey-based Wireless Power Consortium.

Some of the highly-anticipated features of the phone include wireless charging, fingerprint scanner, water and dust resistance, and support for Samsung Knox and Samsung Pay. Among other power-packed features, the handset is expected to feature a 4.2in OLED screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 5MP front camera for taking selfies, 64GB of internal storage and a 2,300mAh battery.

According to The Investor, there is still no word on the official release date and exact pricing details for the flip phone. However, the report quotes an unidentified source claiming that the handset will be priced higher than normal flip phones and will be rolled out as a "special edition" model.

"I cannot confirm the launch date but the new phone will be launched soon in Korea," an official of a local telecom carrier told ET News on condition of anonymity.

The report also adds that its predecessor Galaxy Folder 2 is likely to hit the retail shelves in Korea, sometime in the first half of 2017.
