Apart from launching the Galaxy Grand 2 today, South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung also announced that the company would release a gaming accessory - titled GamePad - for its Galaxy handsets and tablets in January.
Samsung's GamePad will reportedly go on sale from late January 2014 for ₹4,999.
The Samsung handset game controller accessory was globally unveiled last week, and was made available in the UK and select European markets. It boasts an ergonomic easy-to-carry design and steel frame for durability.
Samsung GamePad features D-Pad (8-way), two analog sticks, four action buttons, two trigger buttons, one select button & one start button and a special key 'PLAY', which becomes functional only when the controller is paired with a 4.3 Jelly Bean-based smart-device.
Though GamePad is compatible with v4.1 Android version smartphones, it is more optimised for v4.3-based devices, such as Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the recently updated Galaxy S4, S3 and Note 2.
To pair the GamePad and Galaxy smartphones, users have to first install Mobile Console application from the Samsung app store. Once installed, people can play a wide genre of games (now 35 titles), such as racing-based EA's Need for Speed Most Wanted and Gameloft's Asphalt8: Airborne, as well as first-person shooter games - Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour, sport theme based SEGA Virtua Tennis Challenge, action-adventure game Prince of Persia: Shadow and the Flame.
