The long rumoured Samsung's proprietary Tizen smartphone codenamed Kiran specifications have leaked online.
Samsung community blog, SamMobile has got its hand on the internal document of Kiran revealing the key features and some snapshots of the Tizen user-interface.
The Tizen UI v2.3 looks strikingly similar to TouchWiz interface we see in the current Android powered Galaxy devices, but it is learnt that this is a fully fledged new Samsung OS based on Linux kernel. The company has been hard at work for almost three years in developing new ecosystem of apps and will finally see the light of the day with Kiran.
The new Kiran smartphone will come pre-loaded with top applications like Facebook, Twitter and some Google service apps.
As far as the internal hardware is concerned, Kiran is said to sport a WVGA LCD screen and will be powered by 1.2GHz dual-core Spreadtrum processor backed by ARM Mali-450 graphics engine and 512MB RAM.
Going by the specifications, Kiran is a budget phone and if sources of SamMobile are to be believed, the new phone will aptly make its debut in the price-sensitive Indian market, which is also said to be the world's fastest growing smartphone market.
It is learnt that Samsung's Tizen powered Kiran is the company's first step towards parting ways with Android ecosystem, but it all depends on how well the new phone is received by the public. A couple of new OS' like Mozilla Firefox (Intex Cloud FX) and Sail fish (Jolla phones) have already entered the emerging markets with budget devices, but they are yet to get traction.
Only time will tell how Tizen competes against the industry giants like Google Android, Apple iOS and the steadily growing Microsoft Windows Phone OS.
