Samsung has reportedly shifted its focus to the tablet market, and is working on flexible screen tablets for 2014.

The firm is said to have been planning on adopting metal mesh touch screen panels and has already begun testing few panels for approval.

It has been reported that the Advanced Development Team of the Wireless Business Division at Samsung Electronics received 7-8in metal mesh touch screen panels for approval tests, reports ET News.

Samsung is also planning to complete the reliability test in 2013 and release a tablet with metal mesh touch screen panel in the Q1 of 2014.

The metal panels created by Samsung are said to have a low surface resistance, making them easily bendable and usable for flexible displays along with a low production cost.

The metal panels are also likely to eliminate the dedicated digitizer chip for the stylus and would recognize the stylus without the chip, which will help in cost cutting.
