Samsung has the tradition of releasing its Galaxy S devices at the annual Mobile World Conference (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. The event will start on February 26 this year, but will the upcoming flagship Galaxy S8 be announced at the event? It is reported that the South Korean technology company has decided to delay the release of the next-generation device.

Report has it that the device will be released at a special event in New York in April and not at the upcoming MWC 2017 as would have been expected by many. Samsung appears to be working hard to make sure that everything is alright after the debacle of the Galaxy Note 7. It is also reported that the company's plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) assistant service in the Galaxy S8 could delay its launch.

Samsung recently bought Viv Labs Inc, a startup founded by the creators of Apple's Siri, sparking off speculations that it might use AI assistant service in its upcoming flagship.

According to a report by The Investor, Samsung is planning to use battery made by LG Chem besides those made by Samsung SDI and China's ATL, and it could possibly start with Galaxy S8. If it turns true, the device will be the first Samsung phone to have an LG battery.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come in two variants -- a 5.1-inch curved Super AMOLED screen and a 2K screen resolution model, and a variant with a 5.5-inch 4K panel (806 ppi pixel density). Reports have claimed that it will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a 12MP S5K2L2 sensor and 13MP sensor main camera made by Sony, an 8MP front-snapper, a 256GB internal memory and a 6GB RAM.

It is also reported that the device will mount a selfie camera with autofocus. However, nothing is confirmed at the moment as Samsung is maintaining utmost secrecy after the failure of Galaxy Note 7.
