Samsung appears to be gearing up to release its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as the Galaxy S7. Nothing much has been revealed about the next-generation device but leaks have thrown some light, revealing its major features.

You may think that the release date of Samsung Galaxy S7 may fall in April, by the time its predecessor Galaxy S6 completes a year cycle in the market but the upcoming flagship device may arrive earlier than expected.

Reports are doing the rounds that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be unveiled at a private event on 21 February, a day ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016. However, the South Korean electronics giant is yet to confirm the reports.

Interestingly, China-based analyst Pan Jiutang has claimed that Samsung is considering its upcoming flagship smartphone to be priced 10% lower than the price of its predecessor Galaxy S6, according to The Times of India. If it comes true, the Galaxy S7 will come with a price tag of Rs 44910 as against S6's Rs 49900.

It is reported that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will have several feature upgrades over the Galaxy S6. It is expected to come in two variants, one to be powered by Samsung Exynos 8890 processor clocking at 2.4GHz, and the other by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. Both the variants are expected to share features a QHD display with 2560x1440 pixels, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 64GB inbuilt memory, 4 GB RAM, 23 MP main camera, 5 MP front snapper, 3D Touch and USC Type-C port.

On the hand, the Samsung Galaxy S6 sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixels (577 ppi pixel density) and run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (upgradable to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop). Under the hood, it has Exynos 7420 processor, 16 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, 5 MP front snapper and a non-removable Li-Ion 2550 mAh battery.
