Samsung has reportedly released the much-anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop to the 2014 flagship smartphone Galaxy S5 in India.

Samsung community blog SamMobile has confirmed that Galaxy S5 Exynos 5 SoC model (SM-N900H) owners in India have begun getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update notifications on their devices.

The new firmware (build number: LRX21T.G900HXXU1BOC3) is 874.21 MB in size and comes with a completely new design language – 'Material Design' bringing interactive user interface, lots of animation graphics, replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default run-time, will bring improvements in performance-and-battery-life enhancement, new TouchWiz UI features, refurbished interface, lock-screen notification options and many more features.

So far, the company has released the new Android update to Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note Edge and now to Galaxy S5 . Later, Samsung is expected to roll out the Android Lollipop to Galaxy Note 4 in India.

How to Install Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Samsung Galaxy S5:

If Galaxy S5 owners are getting the update notifications, then select - "Yes, I'm in" option >> then, after downloading, select >> "Install now." The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.

We like to remind our readers that the roll-out process is carried out in phases, so it will take some time to reach all corners of the country.

Until then, users can also check manually on the smartphone by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now';

As of now, there is no word on whether the update has been made available via PC companion suite or not, but there is no harm in checking out on the computer.

Here's how to upgrade your smartphone to new software version via Kies [Video Tutorial]:

Step 1: Connect your phone [Galaxy S5] to PC via USB cable [Note: Before connecting the device, be sure to have installed Kies software in PC, if not, download, HERE]

Step 2: Then, phone will get recognised on the computer. Later click on the phone image (with model number; ex: SM-N900H) to the left of the screen, there you will find memory capacity and below that section, you can see -'Firmware information', under you would have got the 'new firmware is available' notification and click the 'Firmware upgrade' button.

Step 3: Once done with selecting 'Firmware upgrade', you will be asked to save or do backup of files stored in the phone to PC, then download update process takes off.

Step 4: 'Download update' step is followed by installation of software.

Step 5: Once installation process is done, device will restart.

Step 6: Then, disconnect the phone and again reconnect the handset to PC to confirm the device is upgraded to latest firmware.
