Samsung Electronics has a few big devices coming up this year, including the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge that are expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2016 (MWC 2016) in Barcelona, and the Galaxy Note 6. However, there will be many looking forward to the release of the mid-range smartphones from J-series, the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016).

All eyes are on the 2016 edition of the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 after the success of their predecessors, and reports have it that they will have several feature upgrades.

Release date

Samsung is tight-lipped on the release date of the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016), but it is expected to happen in June. The devices have passed Bluetooth SIG certification, which can be taken as a hint that its launch is not far off. There are possibilities of an early launch, as the Galaxy Note 6 is expected to be announced in August like the Note 5. 

Specifications, features and price

The Galaxy J5 (2016) is expected to have a 5.2-inch display with a 1,280x720 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, Adreno 306 GPU, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, according to GFXBench. There are also reports that the device will come packed with a 16GB internal memory, 2GB RAM, a 12MP main camera, and a 5MP front-snapper.

The device has also been spotted at Zauba, a website that keeps track of imports and exports in India, with model number SM-J510FN. It is seen with a price tag of Rs.17,031, but it should differ when it is released. 

Samsung Galaxy J7 specifications

There are conflicting reports on the specifications of Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016). According to Geekbench benchmark, the device will have an Exynos 7870 processor, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and a 2GB RAM under the hoods. 

However, a GFXBench report claimed that it will come with a 5.5-inch display with a 1,920x1,080 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking at 1.5GHz, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, Adreno 405 GPU, a 10GB internal storage, a 3GB RAM, a 12MP main camera and a 5MP front-snapper.
