Salman Khan reportedly made a controversial comment on ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif during his recent appearance on "Comedy Nights with Kapil (CNWK)".

Salman made an appearance with Sonam Kapoor at the show for the promotion of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", and according to a report in Deccan Chronicle, said Katrina was "of no use" to him.

Salman made the comment when he saw a packet of Diwali crackers with Katrina's picture on it on the sets of "CNWK".

"Salman bhai was in a mischievous mood. He gave wisecracking answers throughout. But the high point was in a skit we did on Diwali. Salman bhai noticed that a packet of crackers had Katrina's picture on it. We didn't know when he spotted it. Salman stared at it and then told Kapil: 'What purpose does it serve you to have her picture around? She is of no use to you'. And then he added: 'She was of no use to me also.' Soon, both Kapil and Salman burst into laughter," the report quoted a source from the show as saying.

The report further said the makers of the show are likely to chop out this comment as it does not go well with Salman's image in "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo".

"He was there to promote a wholesome sweet family film. The catty comment seems out of place. So the channel may edit it out," added the source.

Salman, who will romance Sonam Kapoor in "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", will be seen in a double role in the film — one of a prince and the other of a fighter.

Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film will hit the screens on 12 November.
