Akshay Kumar's latest release "Rustom" has been having wonderful collection at the box office since its first day. The film has now crossed Rs. 100 crore at the Indian box office and has become Akshay's fastest movie to achieve the feat.
"Rustom" has become Akshay's sixth movie to have entered the Rs. 100 crore club and his fastest film to make the achievement. It has earned Rs. 100 crore nett at domestic market in just nine days of its release.
Earlier, "Airlift" was the fastest Akshay-starrer to have grossed Rs. 100 crore, having reached the mark in 10 days of its release. After having collected Rs. 50.42 crore in its first weekend, "Rustom" carried on its splendid run at the box office on its 9th day.
The film collected Rs. 5.77 crore on its 9th day, that is second Saturday, taking its total nett Indian box office collection to Rs. 101.08 crore. With "Happy Bhag Jayegi" making a slow start, "Rustom" is likely to maintain its strong hold at the box office on its 10th day and some more coming days.
Akshay's other movies which had crossed Rs. 100 crore mark are "Rowdy Rathore," "Housefull 2," "Holiday," and "Housefull 3." Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Rustom" has been running steadily at the overseas market as well. The crime-thriller made a business of Rs. 25.31 crore at the overseas market by the end of its first week, taking its worldwide collection to around Rs. 130 crore (approx).
"Rustom" has not only become one of the highest grossing movies of Akshay, it has turned to be fourth most profitable film of 2016 after "Neerja," "Sultan" and "Airlift." "Rustom" had released on Aug. 12 and had enjoyed an extended weekend owing to Independence Day. In spite of having a clash with Hrithik Roshan's "Mohenjo Daro," the film came up as a box office winner with positive word of mouth.
